Lottie-Jette was a very unplanned surprise! I was only a teenager, but once I got used to being
pregnant, I really wanted her. As my tummy grew I started to prepare for this little person that
would need me forever.
My waters broke at 29 weeks and I was taken into hospital. I stayed there for 9 weeks. A few times
I started to go into labour, and it was prevented by medical intervention.
One morning, I realised that I hadn't felt the baby move at all. The midwives put me onto the
monitor and had trouble finding a heartbeat. They kept picking up mine, and I thought that it was
hers. They got a scanning machine, and a doctor came and said to me that "I'm so sorry Kelli, your
little girl has died." I didn't even know that she was a girl until that point. I could hear a
deafening screaming, and it took me a long time to realise that it was actually me screaming.
I spent 5 horrible days in labour until Lottie-Jette came silently into this world at 21:25 on
Wednesday the 6th Novemeber 1996. She was perfect in everyway except that she was born asleep.
Lottie-Jette weighed 4lb 10ozs. I took her in my arms and held her as tightly as I could, with the
dreadful thought that I had to let my angel go back to the land of clouds and butterflies. I took
her beautiful face to the window and I showed her the stars. I made her a promise that I will keep
for the rest of my life.
From that day to this, every beat of my heart has had an echo behind it, one of missing my angel.
Every heartbeat that I have is for her memory. I will make her the proudest baby angel that there
ever was. She will never be forgotten.
